The Meeting 1, 715 Days After The First "Groundhog Day" Email

Hello all you beautiful people!! Thank you to everyone who attended our FINAL meeting of the year! Sorry for the lackluster mention of it, but we kind of realized we do not need to meet again as our signups for our last official trip were held tonight. We will be holding our club info session shortly, probably on 11/15 somewhere indoors, but that is still TBD and more information will be sent out regarding it, so sit tight! At tonight's meeting we discussed our upcoming trip THIS weekend to Cherry Springs, if you are on that trip you received an email telling you all you need to know about it and were also probably at tonight's meeting for any other info we wanted to give you. We also held signups for McConnell's Mill which is a joint climbing and hiking trip coming up in two weekends (11/12) if you are stoked about either outdoor climbing or some light/medium hiking, please sign up here:  https://forms.gle/v1Vpedoq6khtGVNw7 That just about does it for me, please check the

The Meeting 1,708 Days After The First "Groundhog Day" Email

Hello all you beautiful people! Thank you to everyone who showed up tonight, we do appreciate all your support and are super psyched that we don't have to yell at an empty patio space! Tonight was short and sweet, reviewing that we had a little trip to Soergels that was a little hectic thanks to Kira getting wrecked by illness, but it sounded like those who were able to go had a really nice time! Second we held signups for Cherry Springs! Cherry Springs is off in the North middle of PA, and the darkest place in the state making it the perfect place for stargazing! I even hear that we have some rumors of meteor showers??? But I literally overheard those two words so I have no clue if that's actually accurate. But it should be a lovely trip out in cabins for warmth! Because of the cabins, we have limited spaces on the trip. That being said, if you have gear that can handle COLD weather, there's a spot on the form to indicate as such. Signup here!: https://forms.gle/MH44j1ivVx

The Meeting 1,701 Days After The First "Groundhog Day" Email

Hello all you gorgeous outdoorsy folks! It is that time of the week again, I will be summarizing this past meeting for all those who couldn't attend or for those who simply have a really poor memory. The first item on our meeting's agenda was recapping our trip to the beautiful New River Gorge in West Virginia. The trees were bursting with fall colors, the temperatures were only desperately cold at night and the rain we expected to dampen (hehe, literally) the end of our trip did not show!! All in all, a raving success that we were really stoked came together so well. Secondly, we covered Raccoon Creek, a backpacking trip occuring THIS WEEKEND. Signups have been closed and the roster set, so you know if you're going on this. But yeah! We distributed gear and stoked the embers of excitement in the members who are sure to have a lovely time this weekend! Thirdly, we held signups for the much anticipated, and very fall-themed trip to Soergels! Kira's organizing a little gr

Pre-Meeting Email for 10/18

Hello all you beautiful people!! Apologies for the delay of this information, still working on sleeping after a long weekend! Just a few notes for this upcoming meeting tonight at 9pm on the WPU patio facing Cathy! First we will be reviewing our trip to the NRG, was super fun, super sendy and a little chilly, but oh so stunning. We also have TWO trips this weekend - Raccoon Creek has a set roster for backpacking this Saturday/Sunday. If you are on this roster (and have not communicated to me that you can't come) you must  attend tonight's meeting. We will also have SIGN-UPS for our day trip to Soergels tonight!! Kira will be organizing a little group of any interested parties to head over to the nearby apple orchard/pumpkin patch for some fun fall activities this Saturday!! Lastly, we ask that you keep alert and patient with us as we work to get our officer info session together to provide you guys with more information about how the club works especially for those of you who a

The Meeting 1,694 Days After The First "Groundhog Day" Email

Hello beautiful people!! We had a lovely meeting tonight covering many topics!! Raystown and Laurel Highlands were successes!! Many a good time were had and I'm told no one was injured on Raystown which is an improvement on last year  @MishaBarth. We also met with the folks heading on the NRG trip this weekend and furthered plans there. The big part of this past meeting was our signups for Raccoon Creek and Dolly Sods! You are reading that right, we're trying to do Dolly Sods take two! Based on the interest in these two trips/the weather we will either have Raccoon Creek or both trips. Raccoon Creek is here:  https://forms.gle/c77eVFjPUS5zk7p8A Dolly Sods here:  https://forms.gle/7RfaXFkF2bUoByBH9 Hope that covers all our bases!! If you have any questions, check the FAQ:  https://outdoorsclubpitt.blogspot.com/p/faq-2.html Anything beyond, email me!! Your Secretary who is outdoors hey can you let me in it's getting cold, Aidan

Pre-Meeting Email 10/11

Hello beautiful people!! Apologies for the delay on this email, I know I often send them out Monday night, but by the time I remembered last night, I figured it would pretty much be the same as sending it out this morning! Alas, we don't have too too much to discuss this coming meeting, but we do have a few notes!! First up, we have a brief little recap of our Raystown mountain biking trip as well as a  recap for our Laurel Highlands trip!! From what I've heard they were roaring successes, but I personally can't wait to hear more from our respective chairs about the trips! Next, we have sent out the roster for the New!! If you did not get an email regarding you being on our trip to the NRG, you unfortunately did not get on the trip. For those who DID get on the email, it is imperative that you attend tonight's meeting in order to get more information about the trip, collect gear, and meet your cars. If you are on the trip and cannot make it tonight email me to work some

NRG Rafting Update

Hello all!! Apologies for conflicting information coming out last night, I have been appropriately informed of the rafting update. Attached is a blurb from Matt Burdette: Hello water enthusiasts! Due to there being high demand for rafting on the New River Gorge we have decided to have up the number of people rafting from 18 to 24! With that being said to be able to do this we also have to raise the price from $20 to $40. While that may sound like a lot the typical price for this trip is about $100 so it is still a very heavy discount. The other logistical issue we have is that we do not have enough wetsuits to give to all the rafters. Priority will go to members who have not been on trips yet. If you do not get a wetsuit you can rent one when we arrive there Saturday morning, it costs $15 to rent a wetsuit or you can get a wetsuit, booties, and splash jacket for $25. Because this isn't as fair as we want it to be we will give a $10 stipend to anyone who decides to purchase either o

The Meeting 1,680 Days After The First "Groundhog Day" Email

Hello beautiful people!! Another successful meeting! We discussed the success of our trip to breakneck! We were able to train a good few climbers on leading and cleaning so that we can hopefully bring more fresh faces on trips later on! Dolly Sods is still currently on for this weekend!! If you are on that trip, you've received an email regarding your car and all the details you need. If you did not receive that email, you are not on the trip! Stay tuned those of you on the trip as we may have to make adjustments for weather!  We also held signups for Laurel Highlands Hiking trail which is up in the Ohiopyle region! If you heard about Dolly Sods and thought 'oof that sounds way too hardcore for me' then Laurel Highlands is the trip for you! It will be a single-night trip going from 10/8 (Saturday) into 10/9 (Sunday) with travel to and from on each respective day. Pre-Meeting Email for 9/27/22

Hello all you beautiful people! Just a little intro to tomorrow's meeting so you know what's coming up! General notes: the roster for Dolly Sods has been sent out, if you didn't receive the email that told you you were on the roster, you're not on the roster. We will be meeting at the WPU porch/plaza at 9pm tomorrow, officers will be on the porch, you guys can muster in the plaza below. First up, we'll review our trip to Breakneck and the climbing that got underway there. Spoiler alert: it was good. Second, we will meet to discuss the Dolly Sods trip (hopefully) upcoming this weekend. Weather is currently looking quite wet which would be more of a slog than a hike, but we'll discuss more at the meeting tomorrow. Finally, we will also be holding signups for Laurel Highlands which will be taking place not this weekend, but the next (10/8). It's some lovely hiking up in the Ohiopyle area, which means it's not too long a drive. If you're interested pleas

The Meeting 1,673 Days After The First "Groundhog Day" Email

Hello all you lovely people! Regarding tonight's meeting, we only had a few items to cover and they will be attached below accordingly. First up, we met with our squad heading out to Breakneck this weekend, everyone on that trip was present or otherwise accounted for. If you did not receive an email, you are not on the trip. Next up, we had sign-ups for our trip to Dolly Sods! This will be held the weekend of October 1st, and will be both the Saturday and Sunday in the beautiful Dolly Sods with some zesty backpacking, there's more details at the top of the signup form right here: https://forms.gle/h49yDiEsYcKFpYd1A Finally we also had a little info session regarding backpacking and what it takes to get into it. We went a little overboard with it, as you can rent most, if not all of this gear from the club. But if you're feeling excited about life you can review this list our backpacking chairs have created covering backpacking gear: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HCQ7r

Pre-Meeting Email for 9/20/22

Hello beautiful people!! Just a quick little email regarding our meeting tomorrow, once again this will be held at 9pm in the WPU plaza, facing the porch. Little clarification: the officers will be on the porch, members in the plaza, we'll shout down at you. First, our roster for Breakneck has been released, and everyone on the trip has received information regarding the trip: please check your email to make sure you're at tomorrow's meeting if you're on the trip. We will be dispensing important information. Second, we will be holding signups for Dolly Sods! Dolly Sods will have an early departure on October 1st. Saturday and Sunday will hold a combined ~20 miles of backwoods backpacking, we can provide some gear, but cannot outfit a roster's worth of backpackers, if you have your own gear, that would help. While this sounds a bit grueling, the views are well worth it and it is one of our most popular backpacking trips. Finally, if Dolly Sods sounds interesting to y

The Meeting 1,666 Days After The First "Groundhog Day" Email

Hello beautiful people!! A quick little meeting tonight, with a few things that went down! First we chatted about Ohiopyle! That happened, it rained a bit, but it was still fun and there was some rafting before the rain, so sounds like a success to me! Breakneck will be occurring on the 24th of September! This is something of an outdoor teaching moment where we'll be leading some trainings in lead belaying, climbing, and cleaning. We are ideally looking for people already comfortable with belaying and some degree of outdoor experience who are looking to up their outdoor tricks of the trade! This is to help us get more people lead climbing and belaying to set routes on our larger trips where there are more gumbies. If you are interested please sign up here: https://forms.gle/uakm5ZX5othx5Ydu9 Our calendar on the website is now updated so you can look ahead for our tentative plan for trips! There are also names of officers if you click on the trips so that you can see who to contact

Le Finale de Meeting sur la Club de Outdoors

Hello beautiful people! Unfortunately, this is the end of the line. I will not be sending you another email... about the final meeting of the spring '22 semester. That's right suckers! I renewed my contract through next year, spoke with the secretary about it and he and I agreed that I was the man for the job. This is convoluted, I'm just letting you know that you shouldn't reminisce about me leaving, you're stuck with me for another year :) Onto the information, this last meeting is taking place TONIGHT at 9pm in Lawrence 120 (or 121 if someone is mean at takes 120). Be there or be square or be disposed with something important, I, for one, will not be attending because I'm still in the wrong country, my b. We are also DISTRIBUTING MERCH at this meeting, around 9:15ish, for those who have paid dues and filled out the form first, and then for anyone else handing in $15 :). It's been a long time coming, but it is finally here, come get your shirts!!! We will

4/12 Meeting Update

The Meeting 1,498 Days After The First "Groundhog Day" Email

Hello beautiful people! For those of you unable to join yesterday's meeting, or those of you interested in a little written recap, your little information fairy has arrived! First up, we have completed and submitted our budget, we've got a few new trips for next year, most of which have been brought in my new officers which is exciting all around, not least of which because our officers have, like, 3 months under their belts and are already like "oh yeah, I'll plan an entirely new trip", it's great, it's amazing, huge shoutout to our ever-growing team! Second, we are ordering merch like, right now or really soon. Shirts and stickers are on the way!! You voted, we listened and now we will provide, coming soon to theaters! Third, there is a reel rock viewing at Ascend on April 11th, it is on our instagram's story if you are interested, but I would like to point out that we did do this, so I guess we are officially trendsetters of the climbing world. (Can

Hello beautiful people! I have gone back and figured out what the title of this email should be, so we're back on this trend, apologies if you hate it, and if you do indeed hate it, please reply to this email and tell me why and what a better alternative might be! Last night we discussed a lot of managerial stuff in our officer pre-meeting so things are going along quicklike, BUT yeah! Merch is coming along great, we'll be updating you about that really shortly, like, within the week, and due to issues with Green Bank, we have Raccoon Creek this weekend instead! This will be headed by one of our new officers: Madeline, if you have any questions, they are who you wanna reach out to, but you can also always email me and I'll just send you down the line to her or get the answer and reply so whatever is easiest for you. Speaking of, a little blurb about Raccoon Creek from Madeline: "Raccoon Creek is a PA state park about a 45 minutes drive from campus. We'll be staying

Update on Green Bank

Hello all! Due to some unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances, we are going to have to postpone the Green Bank trip. We will be having it, just not this weekend. In its stead, we will be hosting a local hike in frick/schenley that is TBD, more details will be provided at tonight's meeting. Due to it being local, it will not have signups or an official roster, moreso a time and location provided for all those who wish to come. Apologies for the late notice on Green Bank, but if you were excited for it, hold onto that excitement! We will still have the trip, just not quite yet. Your Doorclub Secret Outary, Aidan Bell

Hello beautiful people! I'm testing the youtube viral video algorithm from 2020 or whenever this was to see if I can get some bonus retention on this email, we'll see if it works! I hope you all had a lovely break and are just as ready to start classes again as the rest of us, i.e.) not ready at all! And if you are ready, who are you and how do you do that? But I'll do it or something similar for the next one! Pinky promise :) Anywho, this one might be a tad dense, so I'll try to be brief where I can, and entertaining where I can't. Our First Meeting!

Hello beautiful people! This one should be pretty brief, but I would just like to inform you of our upcoming meeting! In-person! Together! As besties! Omg so exciting :) Anywho, TOMORROW (Tuesday) at 8pm we will have a meeting to say hello, give you updates on what we're doing, and most importantly, have signups for our first spring trip!! THIS SUNDAY (the 27th) we'll have a day hike at McConnell's Mill and the signups will be at the meeting tomorrow and in the wrap-up email following! For those eagle-eyed viewers, you are correct that there is no meeting location for tomorrow's meeting, being the extremely forward-thinking people we are, we have almost figured out where we're meeting in a little over 24 hours :). BUT, we wanted to let you know that there WILL be a meeting, WILL be signups for McConnell's Mill which WILL be this Sunday (weather permitting). So yeah! I'll send out a one or two sentence email tomorrow morning (extremely early bc I'm in Bri

This is coming up real quicklike, because wow, it's basically  already February, who's doing this? This meeting is THIS TUESDAY at 8:45 est. Kira has put together a beautiful flyer so bop: Wowwwwwww so pretty, that's got all the stuff you need sooooo yeah! Please come if you are interested in being an officer, again, per my previous update email, do not be an officer if you don't want to deal with managerial responsibilities. Update!

Here comes a thing, do do do do Here comes a thing, and I said It's alright... Oop, Kira said she loves the song, but doesn't want me to call this thing "alright" my b. Oh and it's also misleading because there's multiple things. So all around, terrible start my bad. Take two Hello everyone! If you're interested, please come by with a love of nature in your heart, we will provide bags and gloves, but if you want to bring your own, that's helpful too! Please also fill out the interest form if you're coming so we know how many people to expect! https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fforms%2Fd%2Fe%2F1FAIpQLSe-FeU8dDca7sEx59_BoX6ZwuuMr1pFH8guWrFd4bo9b0Q_xQ%2Fvie

But again, as of right now, don't fret, you're n
