The Closing of the Semester

Hello all you beautiful people!! I am completely floored that it is already April 17th, we will not have a GBM tomorrow as we simply have no more information to impart! It has been an absolutely amazing semester and year! Two years back from the covid desolation, and I would hazard to say that you can't even tell. This year went by so much smoother, we had a better idea of what we were doing and the dozens of officers that joined our ranks made the process so much easier to manage. Thank you to all the officers who assisted in making this year the amazing success that it was. That being said, we do not have this club without all you beautiful people who show up to celebrate the amazing outdoors, so truly I say thank you to you guys as well. We have yet to decide if we're doing a senior send-off or something for the officers that our leaving us, I cannot say for sure what that will look like, but I'm sure I'll have a part to play in that. However, in the off chance that ...

Apologies for the delay everyone, I am off my game, but that doesn't change the fact that we HAVE A MEETING TONIGHT at 9pm on the WPU porch facing Cathy! We will have signups for both spruce knob (overnight hiking trip) occurring THIS WEEKEND meaning we will have very quick signup process, so if you signup tonight you've got much better odds of getting on! Pre-Meeting Email - 3/28

Hello all! Meeting is tomorrow! Be there or be square! 9pm, in the Cathedral of Learning, room 242. A few notes about what we'll be covering: Firstly, we had a super successful trip to Cherry Springs this past weekend, officers will speak to the fun times that it was so that you can get hype for its return next Fall and Spring! Secondly, and big news here, Allegheny is CHANGING. Due to weather abnormalities, we're concerned it might not only be cold, but could be dangerously cold. For that reason, we are diverting to Mt. Davis. Mt. Davis will be a day trip to PA's highest peak, departure aimed for 8am on Saturday, with a return in the afternoon. Sign-ups are open RIGHT NOW. If you're interested or what to learn more click the link:  https://forms.gle/JkUhvPXsXNzbespP9 We need to get this moving quickly so signups will close Wednesday at noon with the roster being sent out shortly thereafter. Thirdly, we have Coopers Rock coming this Saturday too! Weather is looking some...

The Meeting 1,856 Days After The First "Groundhog Day" Email

Hello all you beautiful people!! I will attach this again, because it seems people don't read far past the starting few lines, if you would like to unsubscribe, please do so here:  https://list.pitt.edu/mailman/listinfo/poc Yesternight we had a lovely time handing out merch! To all those who came, I hope you are deeply appreciative of your beautiful green shirts that match your beautiful personalities. As well as any stickers or carabiners you snagged! We also held a little raffle for some gift cards that were super sick, so I hope you all enjoyed that too! People going to Cherry Springs this weekend have already been reached out to, please message those trip coordinators if you have any questions! INFO ABOUT SHIRTS: We did a reservation form for the merch shirts, because while shirts are free for members, we wanted to get an informed number of sizes to order to reduce waste! However, as it happens there's usually some that people don't pick up and we have extras anyways. T...

We will be providing every dues-paying member with a shirt and a sticker, HOWEVER, that means we need to know what size shirt our members want! Please fill out this form by TUESDAY MIDNIGHT in order to confirm your preferred shirt size! https://forms.gle/djfcNkkQS23RR5dW8 What will the shirt look like? Excellent question! Elections Summary

Hello all you beautiful people! Last night we had our elections, a few parties ran unopposed, but we did have a few races! In the end we will have three new administrative peeps next year! New Admin President) Ally Wetherhold Vice President) Owen Knight Business Manager) Emma Horning Secretary) Sophie Meyer Activity-specific VP's (like hiking VP, climbing VP, etc) will be decided amongst the chairs as these roles are less administrative and more so created to organize the chairs, thus, they're selected by the chairs! In addition, you did read that last admin role correctly, as I'm graduating, I will be passing the torch at the end of the semester, I'll write some real heartfelt message later to say goodbye and then y'all can bawl your eyes out, but NO SOONER OKAY? Lastly, I'm gonna plug it one more time, sign-up for our climbing trip to breakneck!! It's gonna be super fun, just a little day trip THIS Saturday. We already have a roster semi-finalized, but hav...

Merch Design Reminder

Hello all!! Apologies for the delay on more information regarding merch designs, BUT we have received very few submissions for club merch designs. Therefore, there will be very little competition for your design to win!! Just a thought, perhaps now your interest is piqued! Perfect! Just a reminder to submit your designs to Jules at jlg212@pitt.edu . We are putting down a tentative deadline as 2/18 for our final acceptance for merch designs, if you would like to submit something, but need slightly more time to finish it up, please email Jules to work that out, we don't want to lose out on a dope design because you were a few days late! Appreciate y'all, hope you stay warm until the day itself warms up!! Your best friend (I hope), Aidan

PODC Elections??? (not clickbait)

Hello all you beautiful people!! This email is coming to you in the love Times New Roman as I copied a bunch of stuff from our notes and can't be bothered to change the font. We have a bit of a lot of information, so I would politely ask that you take five minutes to read through the whole email and then let your questions be generated! :) FIRSTLY, we will have ELECTIONS. This is something we used to do, but really got thrown off due to covid and just a whole load of chaos. BUT, as we feel we have the club back on track, we are opening it back up! On 2/21, in Cathy 239, at 9:15pm, we will be meeting and then holding elections at 9:30pm. We will be sending out an email between now and then to update candidate information. YOU MUST be in-person to vote. If you have a conflict at the time, you will need to coordinate with us in advance to submit a sealed envelope with your vote AHEAD of the meeting. With this in mind, we have two forms that we will ask you to fill out. Firstly, we hav...

The Meeting 1, 715 Days After The First "Groundhog Day" Email

Hello all you beautiful people!! Thank you to everyone who attended our FINAL meeting of the year! Sorry for the lackluster mention of it, but we kind of realized we do not need to meet again as our signups for our last official trip were held tonight. We will be holding our club info session shortly, probably on 11/15 somewhere indoors, but that is still TBD and more information will be sent out regarding it, so sit tight! At tonight's meeting we discussed our upcoming trip THIS weekend to Cherry Springs, if you are on that trip you received an email telling you all you need to know about it and were also probably at tonight's meeting for any other info we wanted to give you. We also held signups for McConnell's Mill which is a joint climbing and hiking trip coming up in two weekends (11/12) if you are stoked about either outdoor climbing or some light/medium hiking, please sign up here:  https://forms.gle/v1Vpedoq6khtGVNw7 That just about does it for me, please check the ...

The Meeting 1,708 Days After The First "Groundhog Day" Email

Hello all you beautiful people! Thank you to everyone who showed up tonight, we do appreciate all your support and are super psyched that we don't have to yell at an empty patio space! Tonight was short and sweet, reviewing that we had a little trip to Soergels that was a little hectic thanks to Kira getting wrecked by illness, but it sounded like those who were able to go had a really nice time! Second we held signups for Cherry Springs! Cherry Springs is off in the North middle of PA, and the darkest place in the state making it the perfect place for stargazing! I even hear that we have some rumors of meteor showers??? But I literally overheard those two words so I have no clue if that's actually accurate. But it should be a lovely trip out in cabins for warmth! Because of the cabins, we have limited spaces on the trip. That being said, if you have gear that can handle COLD weather, there's a spot on the form to indicate as such. Signup here!: https://forms.gle/MH44j1ivVx...

The Meeting 1,701 Days After The First "Groundhog Day" Email

Hello all you gorgeous outdoorsy folks! It is that time of the week again, I will be summarizing this past meeting for all those who couldn't attend or for those who simply have a really poor memory. The first item on our meeting's agenda was recapping our trip to the beautiful New River Gorge in West Virginia. The trees were bursting with fall colors, the temperatures were only desperately cold at night and the rain we expected to dampen (hehe, literally) the end of our trip did not show!! All in all, a raving success that we were really stoked came together so well. Secondly, we covered Raccoon Creek, a backpacking trip occuring THIS WEEKEND. Signups have been closed and the roster set, so you know if you're going on this. But yeah! We distributed gear and stoked the embers of excitement in the members who are sure to have a lovely time this weekend! Thirdly, we held signups for the much anticipated, and very fall-themed trip to Soergels! Kira's organizing a little gr...

Pre-Meeting Email for 10/18

Hello all you beautiful people!! Apologies for the delay of this information, still working on sleeping after a long weekend! Just a few notes for this upcoming meeting tonight at 9pm on the WPU patio facing Cathy! First we will be reviewing our trip to the NRG, was super fun, super sendy and a little chilly, but oh so stunning. We also have TWO trips this weekend - Raccoon Creek has a set roster for backpacking this Saturday/Sunday. If you are on this roster (and have not communicated to me that you can't come) you must  attend tonight's meeting. We will also have SIGN-UPS for our day trip to Soergels tonight!! Kira will be organizing a little group of any interested parties to head over to the nearby apple orchard/pumpkin patch for some fun fall activities this Saturday!! Lastly, we ask that you keep alert and patient with us as we work to get our officer info session together to provide you guys with more information about how the club works especially for those of you who a...

Hello beautiful people!! We had a lovely meeting tonight covering many topics!! Raystown and Laurel Highlands were successes!! Many a good time were had and I'm told no one was injured on Raystown which is an improvement on last year  @MishaBarth. We also met with the folks heading on the NRG trip this weekend and furthered plans there. The big part of this past meeting was our signups for Raccoon Creek and Dolly Sods! You are reading that right, we're trying to do Dolly Sods take two! Based on the interest in these two trips/the weather we will either have Raccoon Creek or both trips. Raccoon Creek is here:  https://forms.gle/c77eVFjPUS5zk7p8A Dolly Sods here:  https://forms.gle/7RfaXFkF2bUoByBH9 Hope that covers all our bases!! Pre-Meeting Email 10/11

Hello beautiful people!! Apologies for the delay on this email, I know I often send them out Monday night, but by the time I remembered last night, I figured it would pretty much be the same as sending it out this morning! Alas, we don't have too too much to discuss this coming meeting, but we do have a few notes!! First up, we have a brief little recap of our Raystown mountain biking trip as well as a  recap for our Laurel Highlands trip!! From what I've heard they were roaring successes, but I personally can't wait to hear more from our respective chairs about the trips! Next, we have sent out the roster for the New!! If you did not get an email regarding you being on our trip to the NRG, you unfortunately did not get on the trip. For those who DID get on the email, it is imperative that you attend tonight's meeting in order to get more information about the trip, collect gear, and meet your cars. If you are on the trip and cannot make it tonight email me to work some...
