Outdoors Club GBM 3/14

Howdy friends!!

President Kira reporting here, stealing the email from Aidan for a minute because I'm in a typing mood and big news: THE CLUB IS HAVING A GBM TOMORROW WOO
MEETING INFO: 239 Cathedral of Learning, 9pm, Tuesday 3/14/2023
Is it our first GBM of the semester? Maybe yea i think so. Is it halfway through the semester? Yep! Am I gonna blame it on the weather? You betcha!
(Basically hard for club to do stuff when cold. and officers in hibernation. brr. also i don't want to step on ski club's shoes (skis? step on their skis? does that make sense?) too much. but mostly the cold. it is still cold but we are doin stuff)
STUFF HAPPENING AT MEETING TOMORROW:
  • We'll be going over the schedule for the semester- it's up on our website but we'll give some more info & field questions if you have 'em! https://outdoorsclubpitt.blogspot.com/p/calendar.html
  • Signups for Cherry Springs (3/24-3/26, staying in cabins, hiking)
  • Signups for Cooper's Rock (Saturday 3/25, climbing day trip, bouldering exclusively)
  • (^We will send the signup forms for this after the meeting, but come to the meeting for first pick - spots are limited!)
  • Info for NO MAN'S LAND FESTIVAL!
    • We've been putting a very special event together: this Friday, 3/17, the Outdoors Club is hosting a festival where we will have lots of fun stuff happening!:
      • A screening of the 2023 No Man's Land film festival, which is a collection of short films celebrating diversity in the outdoors: http://nomanslandfilmfestival.org/
      • We will be handing out MERCH! This year's merch shirts will only be available to those who reserved one ahead of time, but we have some shirts from last year left over so you can take one of those if you like! We also have OUTDOORS CLUB STICKERSS
      • A FREE RAFFLE- This is open to anyone, bring your friends! 10 free entries to members and 5 for nonmembers. We've got some cool gear, including some stuff from...
      • Local outdoorsy orgs! They'll be there, some will have tables, you can ask about jobs, and many have graciously donated some cool stuff for us to raffle off!
      • DONATE TO SWPACC! (Southwestern PA Climber's Coalition) - SWPACC maintains most of the local crags that Pitt climbers use, and they are a pretty cool group. This is separate from the raffle (paid raffles are not allowed on Pitt's campus) - but, if you can, bring a couple bucks (CASH!) to donate to SWPACC <3 https://www.swpacc.org/
      • And of course... pizza - gotta keep yinz fed :)
      • The event calendar:
        • 1:30pm-2:30pm: tabling, merch, enter raffle, pizza, hangout
        • 2:30-4: showing of No Man's Land Program II
        • 4-5: draw raffle results

  • We have a few things that other groups have asked the club to share with yinz, as follows:
Aidan here! Tuning in just to sign this email off! Looks like Kira is gunning for my job and unfortunately, I don't believe I can add any more info!

I hope you all had a lovely spring break and that the cold is not too wimdy for you!!

Please respond to this email if you have any other questions!
