Pre-Meeting Email for 9/28

Hello Beautiful People!

We got a meeting and oooooooo baby it's gonna be a good one.

This past weekend we had a highly successful backpacking trip to Laurel Highlands, our President and one of the leads on the trip, Kira will give you a lil more detail:

Hello y'all- Kira here (editing this draft for this blurb, Aidan does a fantastic job writing the rest)- Evan and I led the Laurel Highlands backpacking trip this past weekend and it was dope! We left Saturday morning and got back Sunday afternoon (after a very important pit stop at DQ and McDonald's of course). The Highlands are gorgeous and the weather was perfect- around the 60s the whole time- with just a bit of rain Saturday evening (we had already got to camp so some people went for an additional pack-less hike while others (like myself) chose to take a cozy nap and wait out the rain), otherwise sunny and lovely. We hiked about 7.75 miles each day, so a total of 15.5 miles (and those who did a bit of extra hikin' totaled about 18miles)! Here's a shot of the lovely 16person crew we took:

(more photos to be posted on the old IG, now @outdoorsclubpitt, today)

We have Dolly Sods coming up this weekend, that roster is finalized, if you are on the trip you received and email and NEED to show up to tomorrow's meeting (for extenuating circumstances please contact Emma (eah116@pitt.edu) or Misha (mjb229@pitt.edu).

At this upcoming meeting we will also hold signups for Raystown Mountain Biking and the New River Gorge climbing, hiking and camping and stuff (links for signups will be sent following the meeting too don't fret).

Raystown is a beginner friendly Mountain bike park for people at all ability levels, the trails are well maintained and we will be renting bikes for people who maybe want to try it out. It'll be a day trip on Oct. 10-

And the New River Gorge is one of our biggest trips, it will be a long weekend (thank you fall break) of climbing, hiking, camping and good vibes. (We have off Oct. 15 and we'd like to have cars leaving throughout that day for the campground, and leaving back for PGH on the 17th). If you're excellent at climbing, this is for you, if you're a rookie climber, this is for you. If you're great at hiking, this one's for you (perhaps not a challenge in your book tho), if you're not great at hiking, this is for you. (See where I'm going with this?) We also might fuck around Fayetteville (respectfully) and get some dinner there Saturday or something- overall it's a super fun trip with great views, hikes, climbs, and vibes. Akin to Ohiopyle, we will be taking a lot of people, but we also imagine a lot of people will want to go, so this could be competitive. Regardless, usual rules apply, if you are offering a car and/or if you're bringing your own gear that increases your odds of making it on the trip just for the sake of how many resources we have.

Alrighty people! Kinda went on a tangent with the New, but what else is new? OMG I'M SO FUNNY I DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO DO THAT AHAHA. Okay, I'm gonna go ask for a raise, y'all have fun out there, I hope to see you at the meeting!
(note from kira to aidan: i would give u a raise if i could but we don't get a salary in the first place so <3)
