POC Meeting Minutes

Hi all, should be a pretty short email today. 

Firstly, SKYDIVING!!! If you still want to go you must be on the spreadsheet and need to give Anna Greenberg $50 upfront by the end of this week at the latest. Anna's email is alg162@pitt.edu 

Next, our first outdoorsy volunteering event will be this saturday from 8:30 to 3:30. Please sign up and help clean up a cool climbing area. The bus will be departing from the Union at 8:30 so be on time. Also please make sure you fill out the google spreadsheet available here:

The other volunteering event we have is PMADD which is on October 22. Last year we helped clean up the river from kayaks and it was sweet. Sign up with the POC at the link here: 

Email Anna with any volunteering related questions as well.

There will be a bike trip with venture outdoors happening this weekend. If you signed up, be looking for an email from your great president Matt Carroll sometime in the next day or two to see if you made the cut. 

Please remember that if you have any club gear, that you return it to our gear master Christian ASAP so we can use it on future trips. His email is cjs197@pitt.edu

Lastly, its a few weeks away yet but the second big overnight climbing trip is happening in the middle of October at the New River Gorge. Get psyched and start climbing at trees hall to get ready. We will probably (I'll ask Matt) be mandating that you understand how to rappel for this trip as we have done in previous years and again, it never hurts to get a belay lesson if you're rusty.

Pre-Meeting Email for 9/28

Hello Beautiful People! We got a meeting and oooooooo baby it's gonna be a good one. This past weekend we had a highly successful backpacking trip to Laurel Highlands, our President and one of the leads on the trip, Kira will give you a lil more detail: Hello y'all- Kira here (editing this draft for this blurb, Aidan does a fantastic job writing the rest)- Evan and I led the Laurel Highlands backpacking trip this past weekend and it was dope! We left Saturday morning and got back Sunday afternoon (after a very important pit stop at DQ and McDonald's of course). The Highlands are gorgeous and the weather was perfect- around the 60s the whole time- with just a bit of rain Saturday evening (we had already got to camp so some people went for an additional pack-less hike while others (like myself) chose to take a cozy nap and wait out the rain), otherwise sunny and lovely.
